Hi skitour & co,
I'm looking for some advice on buying a pair of 'polyvanlent' skis.
I've my eyes set on a pair of Trab Freeride Powercap, but I've no knowledge of this ski. Is any good?
I've been ski-mountaineering for about 7 yrs & love steeps (45-50 dgr). But i'm a novice when it comes to equipment. I've been skiing on the old salomon x-mountain w. Diamir titanal fixes - quite heavy, but I have been content.
My problem is I would like a lighter ski without loosing too much of the force a regular freeride ski gives (I can afford only one pair, hence the need for a polyvalent ski)
Hope you can decipher my english,
Regards, Ruk.
(I can read french, but not write it. So answers in french are welcome 😄 )
Ben alors les gars, skitour est world-famous jusque dans les rocheuses, faut lui répondre au gars !
For my personnal taste, the 4800 has a much too short radius for skitouring especially in steep terrain. It carves very well on piste (I tried it once).
The skitour Freeride Powercap... Many of us (n'est-ce pas David Z ?) would like to know the behavior of this ski with perfect dimensions. However, I sounds like nobody has ever heard of anybody skiing with it...
A friend of mine has a pair of Trab Freerando (a softer version of the powercap), and she's completely satisfied with it.
I'm curretnly hesitating between Freerando and Freeride Powercap (about 300 g difference for the pair), and a similar (slightly narrower) third party : Dynastar Altitrail Vertical...
I've found out, that the guide Fred Bernard in CHX ski on these skis. - An he seems to be doing quite a bit of steep skiing.
But as he also works for the company (ie. Trab), his evaluation is probably somewhat biased.

Bonjour
je me pose actuelement la meme question :
Legend 4800 ou trab Freeride Powercap?
les trab sont ils assez solides?
et tout aussi performant que les 4800 qui sont un peu plus lourds?
Merci pour vos réponses.
